Swivel seat help

Going round and round in circles with swivel car seats for my 18m DD.

After listening to recommendations I've narrowed it down to

Any pointers greatly appreciated!

What height and weight centiles is she following?

The AxissFix isn't a great choice because it only rear faces to 87cm (about 2).

The Dualfix also has a very short shell so not good for taller children.

The Joie 360 might be an option is consider.

MamaJaye · 11/07/2018 12:02

Ooh I'm not sure about her height etc will check that out.

Is the one you mean? https://www.johnlewis.com/joie-spin-360-group-0-1-car-seat-two-tone-black/p3294093?sku=237059588&skwcid=2dx92700032946389553&tmad=c&tmcampid=2&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIlMuWwfKW3AIVa7HtCh2wvgvcEAQYASABEgKLwPDD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

I would prefer an Isize seat if possible but can't seem to find one!

teaandbiscuitsforme · 11/07/2018 12:09

That's the one. I wouldn't get too concerned about i-size because if you stick with rear facing seats, they'll either for the isize criteria or be better than it.

If she's above the 50th centile for weight or height and you're keen to rear face up to 4, you'd be much better looking at the 25kg seats such as the Axkid Minikid and Britax Two Way Elite. They don't spin but they're much better seats. Th Minikid is Swedish Plus tested so a much stricter test than isize.

UnderTheSleepingBaby · 11/07/2018 12:24

I used the axisfix and I did really like it (DS is small so it lasted him until 2.5) but then I had to get an extended rear facing seat anyway (I think I have the britax one mentioned above)

I don't mind as DD can go into the swivel one soon so it is at least getting a bit more use but if you don't expect to have more than 1 DC then personally I'd go straight to extended rear facing. The swivel is a nice to have but you'll easily manage without it.

GreenthoughtInAGreenShade · 11/07/2018 12:45

I can't help with your first two choices, but FWIW, I got the Joie 360 when DD was about that age and it's been really good. DD is reasonably tall, although not unusually so, and has just turned 3 and is still rear facing without difficulty in it. The swivel function is an absolute godsend, especially when they're going through a wriggly "I don' WANNA wear a seat belt" phase.

OhWifey · 11/07/2018 12:47

Don't get too caught up in isize. If it's read facing to 18 or 25kg then it's exceeding isize regulations anyway

MamaJaye · 11/07/2018 12:55

Thank you so much for all your responses! Will definitely look at the Joie one and others you've mentioned. She isn't ridiculously tall but generally bigger than those in nursery class. I am really keen on swivel due to my back problems. I'm really struggling with the normal seat.

Good to know I size isn't be all and end all. Will take all your points into consideration!

The 25kg rear facing seats are the easiest (excluding swivel!) to get them in and out of. My 3 year old climbs up herself really easily and my 18mo can do it if I hold his hand so definitely something to consider. You certainly won't have to lift her up to it for too much longer.

Also, join the Facebook group 'car seat advice uk' for some expert advice. You'll also be able to search for your car type and see what other people have found to be a good fit in your car.

I have the dualfix. We love it, been using since birth and now 15 months. My oh and I are both short and my little one is just under the 50th centile so I'm hoping it will last to 4 as has been mentioned already it has a shorter shell.
