Airline approved and rear facing

Hello,

I'm looking for an extended rear facing car seat (18kg) that is also airline approved with a 5 point harness.

So far I have the radian 5 on the short list but would like to look at others but my searching skills are failing me unless the market for this really is that limited.

Thank you

Rear facing for a plane? How’s that going to work?

Georgie The seat goes forward facing on the plane

Indecisive There aren't many. The Radian 5 or the old style Britax Two Way Elite are your best bet. If you look at the Facebook group 'car seat advice uk' a lot of people seem to buy forward facing Britax seats just for travel because they can be installed with a lap belt and are much lighter than the Radian 5. Otherwise check in your RF seat if that's the important part.

Definitely a gap in the market!

I'd be looking at a 25kg RF seat tbh.

I thought the two way elite was but couldn't find it mentioned when looking now, must have been someone mentioning it about a past version. Shame.

I'd be okay with 18kg as he's lower centile but doesn't seem to increase choice.

Rear facing is the most important part so guess will look again based on checking it which is what I've done so far with the infant carrier.

I think the radian 5 is the only one on th UK market.

Do you know anyone with an old TWE you could borrow for travelling? Long shot!

Can you not use the MC Pearl? I have the pebble plus and that is rear facing on a plane. The pearl is a two way seat, so you might be able to use it.

Thank you,

Looking at the fitting of them I'm also worried that will struggle to fit the radian 5 in random small hire cars.

So think I'm going to drop the one seat for everything idea and get two.

One light easy to fit in various cars rear facing to 18kg is fine, be ideal if could go in the front seat of a van (Vauxhall vivaro) does anyone have a suggestion for this?

Then a second that doesn't need to move the main seat; or the two way elite and multiple sets of tether straps so moving it around is easy. Although I don't really need the 25kg limit.

Does the two way elite fit in the front of vans? Tempted to make a trip to in car safety centre but wouldn't be able to take all the vehicles I'd like to test.

What about the Joie Stages for the van? It's a good one for travelling with as well because it's just belt fitted but obviously you wouldn't be able to take it on the plane.
