Joie Trillo Shield in the USA

Hi, I'm travelling to the US with my 3yo. We'll rent a car. I'm planning on using a Trillo Shield (1/2/3) there. Impact shields are highly unusual here, am I allowed?!
Thanks

If anyone has the same question, Joie replied that US standards are different so not to, I asked around and there seems to be a controversy about impact shields there, besides car seats in the US are much cheaper (like $35 for a FF/RF convertible one) so I'm just going to buy one there.
