Travel system with rotating base

Hi,

I'm expecting our first child in spring of next year, however I have severe back problems which means any kind of rotating base for a car seat would be massively beneficial. Ideally what I'm looking for is a whole travel system that has the rotating base and the the seat that you lift out that goes into the pushchair frame. I've probably got all the terminology wrong, sorry! Does anyone know if such a system exists?

Thanks,
Helen

If you’ve got a bad back, the last thing you want to be doing is lifting the car seat out of the car with a baby in it. Honestly, they are so awkward and get heavy very quickly. I’d invest in a good rotating car seat that can rear face from birth to 4, then buy whatever pram you want. Get a snugglebundl or similar to help you transfer the baby if they are asleep.

Something like the joie spin would be perfect.

Unfortunately what you're looking for doesn't actually exist.

The rotating base car seats tend to be Group 1 or Group 0+1 seats which are designed to accommodate children up to toddlerhood (sometimes from birth, sometimes from 1 year+) and stay in the car.

Whereas the seats which go onto a pushchair frame are Group 0+ seats which are suitable for newborns up to about a year/15m old. I don't think any of these have a swivel base.

I think PPs are right though that the carry/click in seats are a bit of a pain despite looking useful and so one of the swivel seats from birth would do you better, then you can just get a pushchair which is suitable from birth. I didn't have a compatible car seat for DS and I tended to find he would just go back to sleep as soon as I started pushing him along in the buggy anyway.

I’m just wondering if anyone knows of a travel system that has the spinning car seat?

@CLH107 you have three options. The Cybex Cloud Z, Maxi Cosi pebble/coral 360 and the Britax baby-safe i-sense. All of these have a rotating base with the infant carrier and then later the toddler seat. All these use Maxi Cosi/universal adaptors which most pushchair brands can accommodate

Thank you so much! I’ve really struggled with trying to google it all and find one!

Did you manage to find one in the end? I'm currently looking, just wondering what you ended up buying? Smile
