We are looking at this car seat to buy for my 1 year old, but when we tried it in the shop, the casing of the plug bit of the buckle seemed to really dig into my daughter's (admittedly chunky!) thighs. It looked like it would really rub if she was in there for any length of time. Has anyone else had any problems with this?

We have this and didn't have that problem. That said, we also have the cybex Sirona which we think is better - you could try that... I think it's safer because the head doesn't flop forwards when they fall asleep because it reclines more. The besafe izikid is more upright. We've been very happy with both though.
