Just got infant carrier of loft out for new baby and part of the styrofoam around the head area is dented, so we need anew one or is it just when it's cracked?

I would contact the manufacturer and ask them. As far as I have read, different companies say different things regarding what to do with a seat after an accident so I suspect it might be the same for this kind of thing.

It might have internal damage you can't see. I doubt the manufacturer would risk telling you it's ok to use.
