Rear facing car seat for 9 month old onwards

I'm looking for a bit of guidance on this as I'm struggling to find many options! We want something that we can use for our 9 month old that will last so we don't have to buy another one with any luck!! Does anyone have any recommendations for something that won't break the bank?

Mine did ERF until age 4.5 - one seat lasted all that time. If you are within a couple of hours of Milton Keynes, make an appointment at the in car safety centre, they are great.

We had a Besafe Izi Combi in my car - was about the safest seat in the world at the time, won loads of awards -it's heavy and tricky to fit so only use if it's going in and staying in. Also had a britax two way elite which is light and really easy to fit so used in e.g. grandparents car and nanny's car

I also have a besafe. Really good seats. It really depends on your car though you'll need to try some out.

If you don't want to break the bank then I would look at the Joie seats. The Every stage seat lasts until they don't need a car seat any more, it is rear facing until 18kg. Other than that there's the Steadi and Tilt, they won't last as long though.
Two very useful websites for extended rear facing are Securatot based near Swindon and In car safety centre in Milton Keynes and Essex. Giving their location because you can go and try out seats in your car if you want to, but they also give excellent advice by email and over the phone. They have a LOT of choice and you will see almost all of the options available in the UK on those two sites. (possibly not the cheaper Joie seats which are a bit more widely available in mothercare etc). If you say where you are then other posters may be able to suggest other retailers who have rear facing seats. Mothercare and John lewis will have a modest selection but the advice isn't always 100% accurate.
We got an Axkid Minikid after advice from Securatot. It was expensive, circa £300, and will last til our daughter is 25kg and about 6 years old (based on her height percentile).

I've got the Britax Dualfix in my small 3-door car and it's been brilliant. I find it much easier to get her in and out of this than the non-swivelling one in DH's car, which I think is a maxi cosi 2 way pearl. Both are comfortable and secure.
