Car seats

Does this car seat exist??

Please help - those in the know!

My 9mo DD is in her infant car seat but I'm now looking into the next one.

I'm confused by i-size. Can someone please explain to me what happens to the group car seats once it comes into force? Will they become illegal? If so, I don't see why any are being sold so surely that can't be the case.

In short - does the group 1 car seat even need to be i-size?

The reason I ask is because I have criteria for the next seat:

Must be isofix and must spin.

I like the Maxi Cosi Axissfix but was disappointed to learn that it only RFs until approx. 2 years.

I also like the Joie 360 spin but does it matter that it's not I-size even though it beats the axissfix (which is i-size) in RFing weight?

Have spotted the Britax Dualfix

Hate the Nuba Rebl because it's ridiculously large and won't fit in my car.

Hate the Cybex spinning thing.

Thanks in advance...

Have you considered getting a Securatot consultant to advise you? We contacted them by email and they gave useful advice.

DD1 went into the Dualfix at 12 months and is still in it just turned 4 - she's not yet 15kg. She's only coming out of it because DD2 needs it.

The swivel has been great, lots of space for her (she's tall), and the recline is fine for sleeping.

I had no idea this was happening does anyone have a link so I can find out more information please.

John thank you!! I just looked on the website and found the perfect seat!

It's called the Recaro zero.1

Now it had better fit in my car!

I don't have any link for i-size... the info online is both plentiful and pitiful. I can't find clear answers as to what happens to the group numbered seats when the i-size comes into force in 2018.

When isizes comes into force it just mean new models will have to be i size. current models will be still available to buy for a good few years yet. I think i read somewhere about i size for all new seats in 2020. Many seats have already been though the extra testing required for i size. because Britax, maxi cosy and joie have always tried to make safer seats.
As you have discovered i size is not always the best seat to get if you have a tall child. I would get a seat that will take your child rear facing the longest and fits in your car. I have a max way its isnt issofix and it doesn't turn but does go up to 25 kg rear facing which for lots of kids will be about 6. I found that by about 18mths she was about to climb in to the seat herself ( I have a big 4 wheel drive) I also found lifting her in was much easier than lifting her into the baby seat when it was on the base as you kind of have more room.

This may be a stupid quesiton, but can you get a car seat which has the option of either being fitted with ISOfix, or with a seatbelt? This way you can move it between cars with different systems. I can't find the answer on google so any help much appreciated!

There are stage one seats like this spon

The Nuba has failed the German equivalent of the RAC tests and there is some concern about the safety of seats that spin round.

Maxi cosi 2 way pearl is great for tall children. It can rear face til 4 (105cm).
Although it doesn't spin, the angle the chair sits at makes it very easy to get (big heavy) DD in and out when rear facing.
If near an in car safety centre, they are brilliant for trying everything out in your car!
