Be safe izi won't recline when forward facing

I've recently turned our be safe izi x3 combi car seat into the forward saving position and apparently it should have 4 recline positions. However, as the back is pressed so hard into the seat of the car (as instructions advised to do) it can't move enough to recline.
Anyone else had this problem as I can't find any answers in the instruction manual or Internet!

I have this seat but only have it ff in my husband's van - I'll ask him if he's had the same problem. I've emailed BeSafe before on another issue and they were quick to respond - worth a try?

I think mine only has 3 recline positions, though, even when rf?
