How to recline Britax Romer Multi Tech II

Hi peeeps,

I'm losing the will to live trying to figure out how to recline my new Britax Romer Multi-Tech 2 Rear Facing Car Seat. Aside from installing the seat, the instruction manual is useless and I can't find a thing on the Britax website about tilting it back. One of the reasons I bought it was because it was listed as being able to recline after installation but now I'm totally stumped!

If anyone has any inside info I'm missing I would be eternally grateful... I've wasted enough precious time on it as it is!

Hello - I don't have this seat myself but have you tried looking on YouTube?

I had a look but could only find the installation video - there was nothing about reclining it. I think I may go into Mothercare next time I'm near one and get them to unravel the mystery (I didn't order from them originally to confirm - just a random online baby store). Thank you for the suggestion though. Onward!

Having had a quick look at it, are you sure it reclines. I can only see information on width and headrest adjustment. It doesn't look like it has a recline function from the look of it either.

Make the bar to the floor slightly shorter then tighten the tethers, reclining the seat, till the bar is secure against the floor again.

Ok, I rang Britax and there is a plastic leaver underneath the seat which reclines it. HOWEVER, you need to literally uninstall the seat to use this function which is v frustrating as I was wanting to change the recline easily on the go. Darn. If anyone has any recommendations on seats which recline on the go that would be great. I think a trip to Mothercare was what I should have done in the first place. Gah! Not many places can fit that seat not sure if mothercare would be able to help? I also have a besafe seat which has an excellent extremely easy and quick recline.

By lever do you mean the swinging base thing? That needs to already be out. I don't think it's installed correctly if it isn't.

I have this seat, it doesn't recline at all. You HAVE to flip the foot underneath forward before you install it, that's the only way it can be installed.

My daughter went into it as a very petite 11 month old and she has always slept fine in it, she just rested her head to the side on the headrest when she was tired. The fixed position has never been a problem. I really love the seat, and now that my daughter is 4 I love how easy it is to get her in and out of the car (the seat is quite shallow, so I'm not having to lift her 'up and over' into a more bucket-shaped seat).

Don't go anywhere near Mothercare with it, they won't have seen the seat before and you'll probably come away with it incorrectly installed (that's if they'll even look at it, which I don't think they will).

Thanks guys for your help. My son was struggling to sleep in the Britax seat being so upright - he just couldn't get into a comfy position with his head and kept waking up when normally he would have been conked out in his old Maxicosi. I'll double check the lever situ tomorrow and where it is positioned. The besafe sounds great. My car was made the year before isofix came in though so can only install the seat with the seatbelt. Gosh, it's a minefield!! Thank you for all your help.
