Reasonably priced booster with 5 pt harness 20kg

We are visiting the UK later this year and my just turned 3 year old is just under 18kg so I expect will easily be over that on our visit. My in-laws will purchase a car seat but I don't want it to be too costly as we wouldn't be back again for a couple of years. I'm struggling to find anything for under £100. Any suggestion?

Most of the next stage car seats will not have a harness as most only harness to 18kg. If you wanted a harness still then you are looking at a more expensive seat.

The majority of harnessed seats in the uk will only go to 18kg so you are left with the choice of something much more expensive or using a high backed booster with the adult belt.

You need a high backed booster with seat belt. Usually from 15kg. Much much safer than a 5 point harness at that weight. Isofix better still.

We just bought a Britax Evolva for our 2nd car which is a stage 1/2/3 and belts into the car. It's got a 5 point harness which can be removed as the child grows.
It was less than £80 on Amazon. It's an absolute bargain and my DD is very comfortable in it. She fell asleep in it today and looked very comfortable with her head resting on the side impact cushion, rather than lolling forwards which I've read can be a problem with some seats.

At 18kg you just need a high back booster seat.

You can get harnesses that are for a higher weight range but they won't be within your £100 budget. At 18kg he would be the correct weight for a high backed booster secured with the adult seatbelt

Britax adventure from mothercare is a good highback and very cheap. here Isofix only safer when the child isn't in it. Depending where you are coming from if you have a seat that is harnessed above 18kg I would be tempted to bring it with you. Most long haul airlines let you bring a carseat without weighing it. If you are the carseat needs a rear tether make sure the car in the uk has one.

How can a seated belted seat be safer battery? Evidence please??
