Britax Baby-Safe Plus SHR II

Hi all,

We are awaiting the arrival of our first little one and yesterday we fitted our Britax Baby-Safe Plus SHR II baby seat to our Britax ISOFIX base in our Seat Leon ST. It all seems to fit OK and all the connectors show 'green' to show it's all correctly fitted.

However when I drive with the baby seat empty there is such a constant rattling noise coming from the seat it's unbearable! I put my bag in it today to weight the seat and it reduced it a little but surely that level of noise can't be normal? I have to turn the radio up quite high to drown it out.

It's a metal on metal rattling noise. Although the ISOFIX base is securely attached to the car and the carseat attached to the ISOFIX base there is quite a bit of play between the carseat and the ISOFIX base which I guess is the source of the rattle.

Is this normal? Apart from always having a baby/weight in the seat can I stop it rattling?

Many thanks.

It could be the metal parts at the ends of the harness straps inside the seat. There's usually some sort of thin metal bar on the end of them (especially the crotch strap) to prevent the harness just coming through the slots in the seat. Try fastening the harness and pulling it as tight as you can, that might stop the rattling.

Or take the car seat off the base and use the seatbelt to fit it in the car. If there is still a rattling sound you know it's coming from the seat and not the combination of seat and base together.

Good ideas, thank you. I shall try both of your suggestions on the way home this evening and the way to work in the morning and report back!

Mine makes a jiggly noise like you describe - it's not as bad in my car (belted base) as DH's (isofix). I just take the seat out when no baby in it.

Mine does it on a belted base if the seat is empty. I thinks its the harness rattling.
