Help! What ERf for car with storage compartments

Hi there. I have just purchased a citroen grand Picasso to transport my family including grandparents. Love the car but have been told that it has underfloor storage compartments. Bad news as I have a cybex sirona which won't be safe to use as it has a support leg. I could put it in the middle seat but then it will lose its swivel function as another car seat needs to be pleased next to it and I really don't fancy wrestling my squirming 14 month old into a stationary cybex seat in the middle of the car on a daily basis. Any help on a compact ERF seat without a support leg? Many thanks!

There's the bimbofix - the isofix base is car specific so you have to call them to get the correct one.

Open the compartment and then extend the back leg to the bottom of the compartment.

I'm sure the incarsafety centre would have some advice on a suitable seat or having the compartments filled.

Is the leg long enough to reach the floor of the compartment?

HappyAsASandboy · 16/08/2015 21:20

Some car manufacturers make fillers for the compartments. VW does, but the garages are not always aware of them as not many people need them. They are in the accessories brochure though, and only about £13 each.

Also, it's worth trying the seat in the car. I have ERF legs that reach over the compartments and rest on the floor closer to the front seats, and an infant carrier base that has a leg that rests between the rear seat and the compartment. Don't discount your current seat without trying it :)

I have just got the same car! if you put it in the middle is there going to be a car seat on either side? Could you not just swivel it the other way if another seat is only on 1 side?

The storage compartments have got tools in (well mine has anyway!) so cant put the leg to the bottom!

It is worth trying it though as the leg might fit in front or behind the compartment.

Defo email the in car safety centre They were really helpful when I was trying to find a seat to fit our old car.

I think most seatbelted erf seats would fit. So far I know the joie steadi fits (in the middle as that's where I need the seat to go but im sure it would fit on the outside seats too). The joie stages doesn't fit in the middle (seatbelt to short) but might fit on the outside.

Have you looked at the new maxi cosi axissfix as this uses a top tether rather than a support leg.

Alyx80 · 15/09/2015 21:37

We have the same car and have the leg prop in the bottom of the box, I've just emptied the tools out. If you want a new seat the Klippan Triofix Recline fits as the leg prop misses the box.

MamehaSan · 15/09/2015 21:40

The Maxicosi Axissfix doesn't have a leg, if it turns out your current one really won't work. It swivels, and does both rearward and forward facing when DC is a bit bigger.

Sockattack · 17/09/2015 05:57

Citroen don't allow extension into the storage box sadly.

We have a Joie Stages. ERF and fits with seatbelt, no support leg of tether straps.

53rdAndBird · 17/09/2015 06:42

Or tether straps, even.
