HELP- ERF belted installation.

Hoping someone might know of a solution. Our 9 month olds head is currently level with the top of his cybex aton 2 car seat, so I think we need something quickly.
We have an old car that we intend replacing early next year, so we have no isofix at present. Looking to keep him rear facing as long as possible. Considering either the besafe izi plus or the britax max-way, does anybody know what these seats are like. The other option is to replace his group 0+ seat with a maxi cosi opal, which goes rear facing till 13 kg and will hopefully accommodate his height and we can buy something like the cybex sirona when we get our new car. His seat will have to be transferred between our car and my parents as they will do nursery drop off.

I have the BeSafe one and it's fab. High enough to see nicely out the window and has a good recline function. It's a little bit of faff to get it in and out so I'd go somewhere to buy in person and have a go at installing it to make sure you're happy if you intent to regularly move it, but that would be the only negative. The covers are removable and washable too which is a big bonus!

Thanks, I looked at which for some guidance as well which just left me more confused! As they say the britax is a "don't buy", I think I'm swinging towards the izi!

Don't take any notice of what Which? say about rear facing car seats. My DD2 is in one of their rear facing 'Don't Buys', it's a Britax Multi Tech II and they have tested it as the Volvo Convertible. I would rather use that any day than one of their forward facing 'Best Buys'!

And it seems pretty pointless to buy the Opal and then another seat that will only last rear facing until 18kgs. All the seatbelt-fitted seats have a weight limit of 25kgs, but more importantly a longer/taller shell which you might need if your son is only 9 months but his head is level with the top of his infant carrier.

Seatbelted ERF seats have tether straps (that loop around either side of the front seat, or fix to special points on the car floor, or loop round the metal runners that the front seat sit on) that anchor them down to prevent rebound in the event of a crash. If you are going to be moving the seat on a regular basis then you'd need a set of tether straps in each car to make moving the seat a lot quicker. It might look complicated at first, but once you know what you are doing you'll be able to change the seat over in a couple of minutes. That's how long it takes me to fit our rear facing seat.

I have the maxway which is really light to would be easy to move between cars. I would by a set of tethers for each car it is going to go in. You can then leave them in place so you are just moving the seat. I find it easier to take out and move that forward facing heavy issofix ones.
