Harness beyond 18kg?

Does anyone know what group 3 seats have a harness strap that can be used after 18kg?

DS is only 3.4 and (just) too heavy for his current car seat. But he seems far too young to only have a seat belt on. If anyone knows a seat that we can keep on using a harness with, it would be very appreciated! The only ones that I've found so far are over £200 and not really affordable

If you want forward facing then there is the Britax Advansafix, which is probably the £200+ one you've seen. They also do the Two Way Elite, but this is primarily a rear facing seat and is only available from The In Car Safety Centre incarsafetycentre.co.uk/product/2-way-elite-black-thunder/ It can be used forward facing with the harness up to 25kgs.

Other than that there are plenty of other rear facing seats with a limit of 25kgs (that can only be used rear facing), but they all cost over £200 too.

I think this is a real problem, and another reason why extended rear facing seats should be promoted more by the manufacturers. I bought my 25kgs rear facing seat when my DD2 was 11 months old - if more parents were given the information about them they could start using them after their child has outgrown their infant carrier and then we'd not have the problem of heavy 2 and 3 year olds having to sit on high backed boosters.

Yes, those two are the only ones I've found readily available so far. It's looking like the only options, a seatbelt on a 3yo just doesn't seem safe to me.

Totally agree with you, it's not fair that these seats cost so much purely because people are less informed. DS does have an ERF seat just now (combi x3), but it only does till 18kg. Obviously wish I'd chosen one of the others now
