If this affects you, will you be purchasing a new car seat ? Even if you child is currently forward facing Hmm

It's saying they can forward face from 9kg which is correct but it should say to remain rear facing until at least 13kg or their head is above the backrest. Again it doesn't give full info

Never mind ERF, it doesn't take into account 9 month olds who could potentially weigh 9kg, I wouldn't even consider that to be extended rear facing! Who is writing this stuff, they are so ill informed that it would be funny if it wasn't so potentially dangerous Angry

DS went ff at 9 months?

dementedpixie · 08/04/2015 22:09

It was a few years ago but ds also went ff at 9 months as he was 13kg.

Kato I'm assuming you went according to information you were given at the time? The fact is that rear facing for as long as possible has only recently started to be promoted, and erf seats are only now available in mainstream shops. I turned dd1 ff at 12mo (she's now 7) because I thought that was what you did - I didn't question it until a few months after I'd spent £200 on a seat I read a bbc article about erf in Scandinavia. I couldn't afford to replace the seat then so she stayed in it, but by the time dd2 came along in 2012 there was a lot more information around and I saved up to buy her erf seat. When government websites are giving out such vague advice it's easy to see why so few children erf.

This is DS 'old seat' it's still legal and compliant. I totally understand the erf argument but he hated rear facing it made him sick which was much more dangerous for us as he could choke while I was driving.

They've changed it Grin
