When to start using group 1 seat

Hey all,

Our son's getting quite big for his age but without putting weight on (health visitors all happy as he's just very active!) but his rear facing group 0 seat is starting to make him look very cramped and uncomfortable as he is struggling to fit in it now.

Unfortunatley he's not hit the magic 9kg/20lbs number yet - should I wait for this to put him in the group one, or is there a height/length measurement here that I'm missing?

Any input greatly appreciated.

Weight is the determining factor.

do not turn him if he's not big enough, you'd be better buying a 0+ seat which rear faces to 29lbs if the one he's in is uncomfortable.

better an uncomfortable child who is safe than an injured one.

absolutely NEVER turn a child FF before 1yo/20lbs.

the normal rules with a car seat is they outgrow a group 0/0+ when their head gets to the top of the back, if he's still within that, he's ok in that seat.

Usually they can stay in the infant seat until they reach 13kg or head is over the top of the back.

Yes ours was 13kg. Ds was 1.5 ish.
