Can I put my 3 month old baby into the pushchair part of my travel system as opposed to using the car seat section in which he is now looking somewhat cramped

Does it lie flat?

as above does it lay flat if so then yes you can
why does your 3month old look cramped in the carseat ? have you removed the newborn insert (the head hugger and wedge ?)

If it lays flat. His carseat needs to last a lot longer than three months though (for car use) so it might be worth seeing what you can do with the seat to make it more comfortable. some have wedges under their bum that need removig and others the back actually pulls up.

Well, the car seat is for the car isn't it? I don't think they should be allowed to sell pushchairs where the only 'from birth' option is to use the car seat on top of the pram.

If your baby is 3 months old then the pushchair seat doesn't have to go completely flat. So long as it reclines properly, with a hinged back that actually changes the shape of the seat as you lie it back, it will be fine. If the seat is a fixed 'bucket' shape that only reclines because you change the angle that it sits in the chassis at then you might have to wait a bit longer to start using it.
