3 under 3 in a 5 seater; how? What seats?

We'll have a newborn, a 1 yr old & a very light but tall almost 3 yr old (too light for hbb) once dc3 arrives in Dec, currently they're in a britax first class plus & a britax eclipse (across the back of a Passat saloon), no room for anything inbetween/next to.

If you can fit 3 across the back in your normal car, what seats do you recommned? Or advise avoiding?

We were looking at buying a multimac but I've been advised there are cheaper ways to do it (thankfully)!

Google has been useless as it would seem most people have a slightly elder dc1 so are able to use a hbb instead of 3 bulky seats, the sods!

Thanks very, very much in advance.

Have you looked at the Joie range?

The Tilt and Steadi are both quite narrow birth-4 years seats that can rear face until 18kg or be forward facing from 9kg so would perhaps suit all children?

I have however heard that the Tilt has quite a short back so maybe these for the younger children (£83.95 on precious little one.com) and Steadi for the eldest (£130)?

Thanks Squatter but both those seats are wider than our current ones; britax first class plus, eclipse & dc3 will have a baby safe II.

Going to hunt around John Lewis and Mothercare today, and then t'internet tonight, think we're better off looking at the budget brands?

Is this of any interest Run/ multimac on Ebay.....

TarkaTheOtter · 22/09/2014 11:52

How wide is the eclipse? Is it narrower than the first class plus? I have a fcp and it is pretty wide. I'd have thought you might be able to squeeze three in if you can replace it with something narrower.

Squtternutbaush · 22/09/2014 12:09

Are you sure?

Mother care states the Eclipse as 43cm and the First Class Plus as 45cm whereas the Steadi is 42.5cm, not a huge difference admittedly but would free up 3cm (which is probably useless :o)

RunByFruiting · 22/09/2014 18:44

Britax say the first class is 66x45x57 & the eclipse is 64x45x57.

Squatter, Blush glad you pointed it out, I was looking at the depth (49) & not the width...doh!
Still makes it 1.5cm narrower than our britax baby seat. Surely that with the 6cm combined on space saving of ds1&2's seat should mean we can fit them all in one each!

Will test this out, mothercare didn't disappoint & was rubbish today.
Shame Kiddiecare has closed down here.

sleep thanks for the link!

The back of a VW passat is apparently 135cm (will measure tomorrow), so the Stedi should fit! X3, or with the eclipse in the centre for ds1. Hurrah for MN!

Going to have another hunt around the internet (& hope this thread is at some point useful to others)....

As I said on the other thread x3 tilts fit in my hyundai i10 so they can't fail to fit in a passat really. The steadi is a better seat all round I think if you have room.. Which I'm pretty sure you do.
