Struggling to find any info on this seat. Doesn't say what the rear facing weight limit is. Can anyone help? Any reviews or does anyone have one? Can't actually go into Argos myself unfortunately, it's parents buying it as a spare.

Group 0-1 seats are usually rear facing up to 13kg then forward facing to 18kg.

Chickenschicken · 25/05/2014 10:20

Thanks squatter. As it says rear and front facing, up to 18kg, they are taking that as either or. Looking at the cost of extended rear facing seats I think that's too good to be true!
Has anyone returned a car seat to Argos if not suitable?

I haven't returned a seat but if you're looking for an extended rear facing seat take a look at the Joie Stages, its £149.99 and is rear facing from birth to 18kg then a high back booster until 25kg :)

SqutterNutBaush · 25/05/2014 10:49

Oh the stages is £129.99 in Argos just now :)

From what I have read online the mercury is RF to 13kg.

Ihateparties · 25/05/2014 19:04

Joie stages, steadi and tilt are rf to 18kg. The tilt is often on offer somewhere for well under £100.

SqutterNutBaush · 25/05/2014 19:55

The Tilt is £90 in Argos but it is very short so would probably be outgrown by about 3.

For some reason the Sreadi doesn't seem to be sold in many places

SociallyAcceptableCookie · 25/05/2014 19:57

The mercury is rear facing to 13 kg then front facing. We have it and like it but we got it 50% off.

Chickenschicken · 27/05/2014 18:23

Thanks everyone, they've bought it as it's 50% off again.
I'll be getting extended RF for her main car seat, the ones mentioned look great, I thought I'd be spending hundreds.

Be careful, some seats are only rear facing until 10kg which is barely anything. (I'm guessing Cookie knows though if she has one :))

Chickenschicken · 29/05/2014 10:15

Thanks Bertie, my daughter is almost 10kg. I've tried to get them to read the manual but they are very much keep it in the wrapper as long as possible people. They won't check if it fits their car, as all car seats fit all cars....
It'll be too late to return by the time I see them.

Phone the Mamas and Papas customer service helpline if you can't access the manual. They should be able to tell you.

Places like Argos usually don't take returns on car seats, because they can't guarantee you haven't dropped it or used it and had an accident. Only if the item is recalled or faulty. So they have nothing to lose by opening it (or waiting) anyway. The only way you could get some money back would be to sell it on.
