Car seat group 0+ or 0+-1 confused

First timer alert here. DS due in Aug and we've started looking at car seats etc. we were originally thinking of getting a group 0+ -1 - surely you want one that will last longer as DC gets older???? However, after looking in shops yesterday, only the group 0+ ones have a handle so you can move them about if they're asleep in it. Is that right? Would we be better off just getting a group 0+ one now and then another one when baby is older? Thanks

My advice would be to go for a newborn carseat, lasts around a year, and then once they outgrow it, look at Extended Rear Facing car seats which will keep them facing backwards til around four.

yes, only the group 0+ ones have a handle and can be moved about easily. We had group 0+ ones and then bought the next stage later on

Hello,

A group 0+ has a handle for moving baby, and is suitable up to 13kg or until the top of LO's head is level with the top of the seat. A group 0+1 doesn't generally get moved out of the car, but it lasts until baby is 13kg rear facing, then it either stays rear facing to 18kg or turns forward facing - it depends on the seat. If a 0+1 seat can turn forward facing, you can legally turn at 9kg - however babies are far safer traveling rear facing for as long as possible, right up to the rear facing limit of their seat.

Have you looked at the Klippan KISS? That is a group 0+1 rear facing car seat (rear faces to 18kg) and part of the seat can remove like an infant seat. As with any car seat, you must ensure that it is compatible with your vehicle before you buy/use it.

I have a klippan kiss, it is a brilliant seat. Rear facing till 18 kg but also has a removable baby insert bit which has a handle and even wheels! Only down side is you can't clip it on your buggy like you can with a maxi cosi pebble.
