Quick query about group 0+ car seat and seatbelt problem

We use our car seat (besafe izi go) with the Isofix base in our car with no problems but am having a problem using it with seat belts in my mum's car.

Try as I might I cannot get it fastened without a twist in the belt in this car where I can in others. My mum looks after my niece and has a group 1 seat fixed in her car which we are having to remove in order to fit my seat on the drivers side.

I suspect it is a problem with the seatbelt buckle and that it is on the wrong way round, has anybody else had this?

It sounds like buckle crunch to me, and is dangerous in the event of an impact

But without seeing it, it's hard to say for certain. Are you able to upload a picture tomorrow? I work for a nursery retailer, and do this every day

That's not buckle crunch I don't think, buckle crunch is when the seatbelt buckles are on long stalks and this means that when the child seat is fitted the buckle is lying on the seat (and could potentially come open in the event of a crash because of the strain put on it).

OP, how does the Group 1 seat fit? Do you think that one is in properly? Is it possible that the seatbelt buckle (I assume you actually mean the metal part attached to the seatbelt webbing as opposed to the larger part with the button that is attached to the seat) has been flipped over at some point, and can you twist it back?

No it's not buckle crunch. Yes I think it is the metal part that you click in, it seems to be on the wrong way. I guide the lap part through the two guides on the seat and there is no way to click it in without creating a twist in the belt at some point.

I won't use the seat like that so the group one has to come out which is a nuisance as my mum then has to get my brother to fit it in again. I think it might be on the drivers side because of the problem with the belt on the other side.

It goes in fine with the other seatbelt. My mum says she will ask the garage to look at it next time she goes, but it has past its MOT. I don't know if they would check which way the buckle is on though.

Cant comment on the seatbelt issue but we had isofix fitted into our car as it didnt have it and it only cost £75 (this was at a ford garage) and only took half an hour so might be worth just paying to get isofix in your mums car to ensure seats fitted in safest possible way.

Check if the belt stalk has twisted under the seat? Or whether the seat belt has twisted itself and needs sorting in the bit you plug in..... Fully extend belt and fasten see where it twists

Ahhh the belts just twisted and needs twisting back....

The car does have Isofix, but it's buried under the seat whereas In our car the points stick out.
