Ds is 9 months(95th centile) and getting big in his car seat, it'll get another couple of months hopefully but nowhere near the 15 months we got with dd3.
This has got us thinking ahead to getting new seats. We currently have TWE (2 between 3 cars) for dd3 who will be approx 3.6 when ds changes up.
We were wondering about changing her to FF at this point (and getting a FF seat while ds uses the TWE ) but I don't know what difference ERF makes at this point. She's a small one and am guesstimating at approx 14kg /1m by then

I know that a lot of people RF till age 4.. I think it all depends on your priorities..
IMO, it wouldn't make much sense to spend on a convertible only to RF for a couple of months.. I think she's old enough to FF... so you should buy a combination seat that can be used for forward facing and as a high back booster seat later..
You can try Evenflo SecureKid DLX.. FF range is 20-65 lbs on this one.. and for high back booster it is 40-110 lbs.. height limit is 57 inches.
It is a really popular seat because has a great weight/height range without being huge..and it costs relatively less than the other popular brands available.

Its five point harness, is crash tested and offers side impact protection. its 4 shoulder strap positions accommodate growing children longer... plus it is machine washable... not bad I would say.

If you're looking for something fancier.. then Recaro Performance Sport can be given a thought... it is sturdy and comfortable.. height limit is higher than securekid.. at 59 inches.. weight range is higher too..
where features are concerned.. it has got HERO harness system and ErgoShell Structure.. you can read in detail about that on the official site:

recaropromotion.com/performanceSport.html

These two are good options for your daughter IMO... the convertible that you already have can be passed on to the son, like you said..

If you are not sure about these two, you can find more seats that suit your needs using this Car Seat Finder: www.carseatvs.com/dofind

All the best with your search!!

How much does your DD weigh? At 3.6 DD1 was only 13kgs so we had to look at a harnessed seat, because she still had so much weight to go until 18kgs we went with another RF and at just 5 she is finally 18kgs and celebrating her new FF seat. DD2 is 3.6 and weighs 15kgs so I doubt will go as long RF - she has a Ff harnessed seat in DH's car because there is no RF to fit his car and is perfectly happy and safe because it is fitted correctly.

I would want a harness, expecting about 13-14kg following her chart a few months ahead.
If we can keep ds where he is for longer then that's better.
Great info thanks both :)

Dd3 is 4.2yo/16kg/1m and we've just had a car accident so need to replace her old seat (Hi Way II). I'm going with a TWE as her spare seat is a TWE and it has plenty of growing room plus it lasted DD2 who is v tall until 5.9y/117cm.

GraceTX - the site you linked to and the seats you mentioned are all US based not UK.

Is that RF truth ?
Hope everyone was ok after the accident.

Yes she's still rfing Grin I'm hoping to get her to 5y Rfing if not longer.

Luckily the only injuries were to me and DH (bruising) and DD4 didn't even notice the accident (DD1 & DD2 were very upset as the rear row is high up and they saw the whole thing Sad).

The police, ambulance and fire service staff were all very impressed with the children's seats and we got lots of praise for correctly installing them AND using them Confused

Good for you but bit scary about what the emergency services have seen
