Would somebody help an ERF novice?

I need an ERF car seat for ds (coming up to 16 months) as he's growing out of his infant carrier.

I've had a look and found the choices completely mind boggling! I was really hoping someone would be able to give me a bit of advice to get me started!

We currently have a vauxhall Astra estate but will probably trade in around Christmas for a galaxy or similar as I'm pg with dc 3. So I don't see space as a massive issue (although willing to be told otherwise!)

Would prefer isofix as I like the reassurance of it telling you when it's not in properly and less risk of it being installed incorrectly.
I can't see that it would be used in anyone else's car at all really so move-ability not an issue.

Would like a recline if possible and also for it to be comfy when he grows taller.

I was looking at the britax dual fix and was all ready to go and get it from mothercare but then I read some reviews saying it was tiny and very uncomfy for older children. I liked that you could rotate the seat to get them in more easily.

Are there any disadvantages to getting an up to 25kg one instead of an 18kg one?

I ve got the britax seat you mentioned .

Its very expensive at £340. But i love it.

However dd is only 12 months.

Thanks, I didn't think it seemed that much more expensive than similar seats? and the convenience of the swivelling seemed good!

How much room does your dd have in it now?

We have the britax two-way elite and love it. It's a bit cheaper than the other model you mention £200 ish and doesn't swivel but I honestly don't think a swivel would make any difference to us.

We just chuck child in seat, lean in, do up and pull to tighten. If you have back or mobility issues it might be trickier but I don't think the swivel is worth the extra cost personally.

Oh and DS is 2.9 now and still has plenty of room - I expect to forward face him about 4 and use it until he is 5/6 ish. He's pretty tall for his age too.

Actually come to think of it, its very fitted so to speak, its very padded and it has side impact on it, which does make it look very snug.

I'd look at the axkid minikid or the two way elite. Isofix isn't any safer and limits you to 18kg. These two rearface til 25kg.

The thing you need to watch is your storage boxes.

I guess I thought with being pg it would be easier but that is only a short term thing :o

Isn't isofix safer? I thought it was meant to make it more stable / reduce chance of incorrect installation.

ERF don't really need the swivel feature its so easy to get them it.

It can reduce risk of incorrect install but to be honest im confident in fitting anyway. (got three ERF!)

Bit of a hijack sorry but where stocks the two way elite? I've googled but struggling to find anywhere to try it? tia
