Britax adventure dimensions

I'm trying to find a high back booster to fit between an infant carrier and another high back booster as I'm not ready to move my eldest to a booster with no back.

I've seen comments that a britax adventure would be one of the narrowest available. But the closest shop stocking it is over half an hour away. Does anyone know if 43cm width they refer to is the seat itself (where the child sits) or the whole car seat? Also is it wider round the head? I'd be so grateful if anyone can help.

I have two of these seats, and I would go and measure them now but it's raining and I'm in my dressing gown and pyjamas! I will measure the seat in the morning when I get back from the school run and give you all the info I can.

Right, I've measured it!

It's 43cm wide at the base (just by the cupholders - you can see them on this picture www.kiddicare.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/productdisplay0_10751_-1_187525_10001 ), at the widest part of the side wings and at the widest part of the headrest. I was measuring it as 42cm really, so it is definitely not wider than 43cm at any point. The 43cm is the whole seat, not just the internal dimensions of where the child sits. It also actually narrows towards the back of the seat, so that where it is touching your car's seats it's only about 30cm wide. This is so that it will fit nicely on 'sculpted' vehicle seats.

Like I said, I have two next to each other in my car, alongside a Britax Multi Tech II ERF seat. It's quite a good seat if you need three in the back, the fact that it has no arm rests means that there is a bit of a gap to reach down to the seatbelt buckles. Having said that, my car is a Peugeot 5008 so it's quite wide and has 3 separate seats across the back which always makes it easier to fit 3 child seats.

If needs be I guess you could buy an Adventure for your older child too, if his current high backed booster is too wide. I think the RRP is about £60 but you should be able to get it for £30. You are right to keep him on a booster with a back, my DS is nearly 8, and 132cm tall, obviously he still has a high backed booster. I'll be keeping him in it until he can safely sit on the car without a booster at all. I'm not keen on the backless ones.

Thank you so so much. That's such good news and you're right it's an option to buy two Britax Adventure but if possible I'd prefer to keep one isofix. Thank you for saving me a long journey, I've got SPD again and it's affecting my ability to drive this time.

You're welcome, sorry to hear about the SPD. I had a bit of it with my first, but I think it was quite mild.
Just came back to add a quick review of the Adventure. I think it's a really good seat, especially for the money. My mum has the basic Graco one that costs about the same and compared to the Britax the Graco is flimsy and doesn't seem very 'deep' at all. Oh and the Graco wobbles about loads too, the base is wide so it rests on the edges of the car's seat (my mum has a Toyota Verso) rather than the Britax fitting nicely with its narrower base and back.
The Adventure is nice and deep, my older two will be 5 and 8 next month and they slept comfortably in it when we were travelling late on the way to and from Cornwall this summer. They just rest their heads to the side to sleep, and their bodies don't slump down at all. It's still fine for DS, he is tall for his age and of an average build and he fits in the seat well.
