Any idea where/if i can get car seats checked?

We are expecting ds3 in a few weeks and so bought a touran recently. I want to find somewhere I can go to get our existing child car seats checked and if not, some advice on what to replace them with (if our existing car seats aren't safe). I would rather go somewhere independent, than just ask in Halfords or Mothercare. I wondered if anyone had any information or ideas please? Much appreciated, thanks

county council does 'em for us. Can't remember who you ring, Road safety division maybe?
