What forward facing car seat would everyone recomend?

I am moving my 1 year old daughter into a bigger car seat and i dont know which is best. I have heard of a few that are good, but just wondered what everyone else thought.

its bulky but they all are...my daugther is now almost three and still in it ...we need to also move on in the next six months....
it reclines so toddler can sleep in it

Please consider a rear facing car seat instead.

She's a bit young to go forward facing - we had DS in rearfacing until he was 20mo and we emigrated but he was still in his M&P prima viaggio system seat (he was quite small and light as well though)

I wouldn't move a 1 year old over to forward facing either. I know back home (NZ) they have to stay in a rear facing till 2 year old. I have heard UK is the only country really that still have 9mo forward facing. I would wait till they have completely outgrown the baby seat, ie either the head is over the top of the seat, or they are 13kg. I think it's rare a 1 year old is actually that big! You should be able to continue to use the infant seat till 15-18mo. (What's what the lady at John Lewis told me when I bought my infant one).

If you decide not to get a rear facing I recommend recaro. We use them for both our boys, they also do an extended rear facing in John Lewis.

The safest forward facing seats for that age group are those with an impact shield rather than straps. Second best is something like the Jane Exo which absorbs some of the impact of a crash. Of course the best and safest option by a mile is a rear facing seat.

As an aside... you should not under any circumstances move a child into a group 1 car seat until they are at least 9kg and you don't have to move them out of most group 0+ seats until they are 13kg or their head is level with the top of the seat.

I would recommend either the Recaro young sport, or the Britax eclipse. I've had both and while i agree with ERF, it wouldn't have been an option for us.

Check out Kiddy. They are forward facing but use a "cushion" to fit the seat belt rather than a harness.
Which? Best buy for quite some time now.
Can't fit it incorrectly as its "just" a super booster seat-type one.
I've got an infinity pro and a guardian pro. I love them and find them impossibly easy to use

Kiddy were the leaders in this type and others have tried to copy the style but I found kiddy to be the easiest to use (tried a few in Baby2k, Portsmouth)

Thanks for all your responses. I'm just a bit confused though. My baby is far too big for her rear facing carseat! Her legs are crossed and her head is right at the top. So i thought the next sort of seat would be a forward facing one?..is there bigger rear facing car seats? xx

i would also recommend an extended rear-facing seat. they're 5 times safer than forward facing seats.

ds2 is now 4 (he'll be 5 in october) and he is still rear-facing and we have no leg issues!

My DD is in a Britax First Class plus. This is both rear and forward facing, but at 20 months she is still rear facing. She will stay this way as long as possible.
