Buying an ERF seat second hand?

I have decided that ERF is the way to go but the seats are so expensive. I have seen them come up on ebay occasionally. Now i'd never have considered a second hand seat before, but if its the choice between second hand or forward facing perhaps its the best option? I'm driving myself mad trying to decide what to buy and where from! Would you buy a used seat?

Personally I wouldn't unless I implicitly trusted the person I'd got it from (and even then, I think I'd have my doubts).
Buying from ebay there is no way of knowing if the seat has been in an accident and weakened.

I would rather have the best quality, rear or forward facing, seat I could afford than a second hand one with unknown provenance.

No I wouldn't unless it was from someone I know in the ERF community. I would spend £200 on a TWE and make savings in other ways.

I have just bought an Axkid Kidzone (WRF) which can be used 9-25kg. It is very solid and my son is very happy in it, but it was quite pricy at £325. I bought it from Securatot.

i probably wouldn't buy one from ebay no.

what budget do you have? the britax 2 way elite is only around £195, which is cheaper than the top-end forward facing seats

Like with any car seat, I'd buy it second hand if I knew its history, and the person I was buying it from, very well.

Not from a stranger on ebay, no way.

Thanks everyone. I wondered if I was being precious not wanting an eBay bought seat, but clearly not! The reason I'd discounted the TWE is it doesn't look like it has much support and DD is only 12mths. Also wanted Isofix, our maxi cosi cabrio has Isofix base and just feels so secure.
