i went to reconvert my 123 car seat today for my youngest from being a booster back into a car seat using the harness and guess what in the last 2 years i've lost the buckle that you strap the harness into!! joy!! phoned britax who informed me that i have to send my seat away at a cost of 15 pounds postage and for 56 pounds they will fit a new harness. i could get a new one for that!!!! they wont send me a new one as it needs to be safty checked and i'm not moaning about that bit i'd never forgive myself if it broke but 70 odd pounds for a buckle!!!!
guess i'm off to the shops this weekend and i'll probably find the buckle in two weeks.... Hmm

are you sure its not stored in the seat. How old is the seat? Car seats should not really be used after 6 years. I would buy a new one.

You can order it as a spare part from Mothercare, I have done this recently, takes a couple of weeks at the maximum and costs about £15. It has to be the whole harness set as they recently tweaked them from metal to plastic but it will fit the Evolva. Takes about 5 mins.

actually the expiry date on car seats varies a lot between manufacturers. Britax, iirc, are one of the longest.

I would however send the seat off to them to have the harness fitted. just in case.

From the Britax website "From April 2008, all child car seats that were manufactured before 1995 and approved to the ECE R Standard Regulations 44/01 and 44/02 are no longer legal and must not be used."

I think Halfords may be able to order one for you, worth a try.

Actually I have just remembered I ordered one from the In Car Safety place at Milton Keynes because I lost the one from my Elite, that I had been using with an extended crotch strap with a child in a Hip Spica plaster cast. Try 01908 220 909

Thanks mine is at most 3 years old. my eldest is 5 and we got it when he was over 2 maybe even 3. i'm only thinking of using it for my 16 month old now because i'm returning to childminding and need to use his baby seat for one of my minded ones occasionally.
didnt know that about mothercare, i might call them tomorrow to find out their thoughts.
hopefully we'll find it... don't hold out much hope though unless i can convince the husband to empty the loft!
