hi! ive just started looking for car seats and pushchairs and found that the maxi cosi (with and without isofix) and the graco car seats do not fit properly in my car! has anyone else had this problem? if so, what car seat have you used? any help would be greatly appreciated.
ps: baby due early July

whereabouts are you? if you can get to Milton Keynes then the in car safety centre is worth a visit! they stock everything and are very helpful and knowledgeable,

or there are the ladies in Rayleigh in Essex who give advice too (they don't sell seats, but can try them out and help you get a good fit)

Thanks. Im based in Essex- do you know where in Rayleigh this is?

Are you sure? I had a maxicosi cabriofix in an 04 Polo, and now in a Fabia which is very similar, same chassis etc. Seems odd that Maxicosi have written off such a popular car.

according to the britax fit finder the baby safe plus shr will fit

thisisyesterday- thanks so much :))) gosh- thats not far at all!!

bikerunski- i went to mothercare and they tried and tried but the base of the car seat did not seem to have much support from the seat as it was too sloping- maybe its just my car!

We have an 03 polo and use the Mamas and Papas Cybex Aton. The maxi cosi Cabriofix is about the same size so can't see it being a problem.

Hi there .... the Klippan Triofix is a great rear facing seat for smaller cars because it takes up about the same amount of space as an infant carrier when installed, its certainly the most compact on the market and can be fitted using isofix or seatbelt.
Good Luck !

poohdoctor ime Mothercare staff rarely have much of a clue about anything and have actually given me wrong and dangerous info about car seats. The is a "cars our seats will fit" finder thingy on the Maxicosi website. Check that, then get a second opinion on fitting from Halfwords, John Lewis, that place in Rayleigh if it says it will fit.

thankyou all for your useful advice- will be exloring britax, mamas and papas and rayleigh if all fails, this weekend!...in the rain!!:)
