ISOFIX car seats - very confusing

I want to buy a car seat with ISOFIX, do i need the base as I have the ISOFIX slots in my Galaxy already?

Might have to get Mothercare to fit one in before I buy

Why are they so expensive too? Its for my childminding business and I haven't really got £200 upfront to fork out for one.

If you are buying a group 0+ (birth-12mth ish) then YES you will need to buy the isofix base as this is where the isofix arms that attatch to slots in your car are (they are not on the baby seat itself).

If buying a group 1 (9mth-4yrs ish) then the isofix arms are intergrated into the seat so you dont need a base (other than one of the maxi cosi ones but dont remember which)

As MBAM says, infant carriers have an ISOfix base, group 1, if the children are going to be front facing, have the ISOfix arms attached (Apart from the pearl - familyfix base and the recaro - base : but these are both crap tbh)

Group 1 you might want to look at the Britax DUOplus, it's the cheapest and you can get it on offer for about £150, you just need to check the Britax FitFinder to see if you'll need a toptether. You'll find the Britax ones better as they've got PivotLink Isofix and the strap heights are super easy to adjust :)
