Extended harness vs side impact protection

I've put it off as long for as long as I could but DS1 needs to move into a high back booster. I know the 2 way elite goes up to 25kg FF with the 5-point harness but I'm just not impressed with the side impact protection. We're looking at the Britax Kidfix and the Maxi Cosi Ferofix (any opinions/preferences on these appreciated!). So what do you think? Extended harness or good side impact protection? Confused

Depends on size/weight/age of the child involved

Hi TIY - I think it was actually you who suggested the 2 way elite to me ages ago. He's nearly 6 and just hitting the 18kgs. He's small for his age so he's still below the recommended height for the priorifix.

yeah it probabbly was me lol
tbh at 6 i would say go for the highback booster.

I am not as well versed on HBB's as I am on ERF seats though sadly lol, but I believe the Britax kidfix got good crash test results

Yes, I checked out the which? Reports for it last year and it was a best buy. I'm not sure if the ferofix has been reviewed yet but Maxi Cosi seats tend to do well. DS2 is still happily in his BeSafe Izi combi at nearly 3 and if he's anything like his brother build and weight wise he'll be in it for some time to come! :)

I would say that at 6 he would be fine and poss more comfy in a hbb.

I have the Kidfix for DN (6) we looked at the Ferofix as well but decided against it as the side bits did not come up as high as the kidfix so as dc gets taller his sholders would be 'exposed' where as on the kidfix they wouls still be protected. Also he liked the arms on the kidfix so he could rest his elbows on them. He says it is very comfy and much better than his friends graco one (even though it has a cars cover) because 'Sams seat is hard and the head bit isnt snuggly like mine'Grin

Also the kidfix has a slight recline on it that cant be accheived with non isofix boosters. Its not much but just enough to stop DN falling forward when he dozes off.
