It's going to be the britax 2 way elite, after much reading on the Internet and all te threads on here - thank you! Going to order it at the weekend, yay! It really is silly to get this excited about a car seat isn't it?!

I'm all excited as DD1's spare seat arrived (another Sunshine Kids Monterey as I love them!) so share your joy!

yay! not silly at all

dp is off to america next yr and i am now arranging for him to bring me back a sunshine kids radian for ds2 :-D so also sharing the joy

TruthSweet · 29/12/2011 23:00

Ooh which one you getting? How much are they in gbp?

thisisyesterday · 30/12/2011 11:29

agh! i WAS going to get this

as the ones branded sunshine kids are cheaper than the Diona ones. and there is a Walmart in Houston that DP could get it delivered to store.

so um, back to the drawing board! lol
i want one that goes up to 80lb i think, cos then DS1 can use it until DS2 is big enough to turn forward facing

notfarmingatthemo · 30/12/2011 13:31

don't think you can use Americana in the uk as they don't have the right safety standards

thisisyesterday · 30/12/2011 15:04

apparently they do meet EU standards, they just don't have the mark.
makes sense seeing as US safety criteria appear to be much more stringent than our own

That would have been one with a shorter expiry date (made before the switch to Diono) so wouldn't have lasted as long.

When DP gets the seat get him to check the box for the date of expiry/date of manufacture as you don't want to get an old one given the limit on the use.

I'd get a Radian RXT as it has a 10 year expiry AND can be used as a HBB to 120lbs/54kg so you would get the longest use out of that one, and you can do 3 across easy, it folds and has a strap for travelling and you can have up to 4 cup holders if you have a really thirsty child Hmm.

Also it's rfing from 5-45lbs so perfect for another baby Wink

Yay, Britax 2-way Elite is a great choice! We loves ours! DS is rear facing at 27 months in his and DD was harnessed (FF) until she was 6.5yrs in hers...a long lasting, versitile seat.

brachy - Hope you don't mind me asking but how tall was your DD when she out grew the TWE?

DD1 went in her sister's TWE recently (temper tantruming and I don't trust her to stay seated when she's like that) and the straps were way too low for her. Shouldn't really have kept her in it but it was a better option than her getting lose on the dual carriageway! DD1 is about 120cm and is 5.9y but is very leggy (is 20kg though).

brachy · 01/01/2012 09:43

DD was about 115cm when her head popped out the top and the straps sat below her shoulders. She could have got another month or two out of it as she hasn't grown much since! She was/is 18kgs.

TruthSweet · 01/01/2012 12:19

Thanks, I think DD1 was about that when we swapped her out of the TWE into the SK Monterey HBB but was 5 and still had head height (she's all legs is out growing 7-8 tights and isn't 6 yet - must be her 6' 2" DadGrin) but DD2 was almost outgrowing the Nordic Secura by height so everyone got bumped...
