Maxi cosi pearl vs priori

Currently have Maxi cosi pebble, v pleased with it, looking at next sized car seat
The pearl looks are more substantial seat, and I already have the base, but it is still more expensive than priori
I've googled it and looked on here, but the last post on it was from April last year
Does anyone have either seat & offer any views on either accordingly?

hi, i had two of the priori car seats for childminding and never had any problems with them. they were very easy to fit, covers easy to clean and always very secure in the car. i have now replaced them with rear facing seats since i found out about them. have you thought about getting a group 1 rear facing seat? maxi cosi sell the mobi which lasts to 25kgs but there are loads more.

Are you going with the PrioriFix? Honestly, I wouldn't get either! The Priori XP is alright, but not as good as other seatbelt fitted seats, the Pearl can't be fitted with the seatbelt at all so can't fit it without base.

If you want front facing and ISOfix then Britax with PivotLink is safer than Maxi Cosi Isofix seats - Maxi Cosi isofix is very rigid which puts an awful lot of the strain of a crash on the baby, whereas the britax is designed to 'pivot' and therefore the seat takes more of the force of the crash, not child, and you can pick up the Britax duo plus for about £150.

As nicm says, rearfacing is much, much safer so I would seriously look at an extended rear facing seat without doubt. The Maxi Cosi Mobi and Britax Two Way Elite are great with seatbelt fitment. For ISOfix extended rear facing take a look at the Recaro Polaric, BeSafe izi combi and Klippan Kiss/Graco DuoLogic take a look at [www.rearfacing.co.uk]

Tha maxi cosi mobi is expensive at around £220 but I know they have a good reputation. I like the look of the britax duo plus and you can pick this up here for £140 which seems to be the cheapest price around at the moment - www.pramsupermarket.com/compare-britax-duo-plus

It's worth taking a look at some of the videos on the Britax main website which go into more detail about the duo plus

£220 is expensive Oldhands, but it is 5 times safer for them to be RF, so an extra £70 over the next 4 years is only about £18 a year for a much higher chance of survival and avoiding injury. The mobi is up to 25kg too so will last the child longer than the Priori, Duo Plus or Pearl which only last to 18kg :-) Another good one to look at may be the Britax Two Way Elite, that RF to 25kg, but it can also fit front facing with harness to 25kg and they are about £180 I believe - but use it RF as long as possible.
