Car in rear end shunt - to replace child seats?

Just wanted advice.... today my car was involved in a rear end shunt (Boot damage and bumper completely torn)- reckon 10-15mph impact (I was stationary,other car hit me from behind).

Direct Line have suggested completely replacing the two child seats (Graco Junior from 2007 and Mothercare Sola from 2010) but as far as I can see they don't look damaged from the outside . Neither of my DDs was in the car thankfully.

What would other people do? The Graco's easy to replace but the Sola is a PITA to get hold of.

Deffo need a after today.

We were rear ended with DS 7 and DD 4mths in the car. We were stationary and driven into at around 30 mph. The police who attended the scene told us that the seats needed to be replaced. I do not know if this advice would have been different had the carseats been unoccupied. When I removed the covers from DS highbacked booster, there were clear stress marks to the joins in the plastic so I can see the need for the replacements!

You should definitely replace them. The damage to the structure of the seat is often invisible by just inspecting it. The other person's insurance company will have to pay for them, so it's of no detriment to you and you get brand new seats! You won't have to replace it with the exact seat-something equivalent will do.

Replace them. You don't have to pay for them, so not sure why you would consider risking it.
Like ParkerRocks, I've seen damage (under the covers) of a carseat involved in a slow-moving rear-ender.

Hope you're ok but I would definitely replace. As stated above, you may not be able to see the stress incurred and wouldnt be worth the risk IMO.

We got a cheque for the money, so up to us which new seats we got.

This looks very similar to the Sola.

Replace, PITA it may be but if they aren't quibbling about it I would just go and get them.

We replaced our seat when we were in an rta we were told it is because the webbing can get stretched in the harness and it may have caused a weakness in the actual seat. I loved the opportunity as we got a better upgrade than the previous seat. Go for it and put a claim in.

Just to add....I actually went into the back of someone monday morning (just gone) at about 20mph, thankfully no child in car but I will be replacing my Britax First Class regardless!
