Should I replace my carseats?

Hi all
Was in a car accident this week, we collided almost head-on with another vehicle, at low speed. Airbags deployed, etc and we were all unhurt.

Kids, aged 9 and nearly-8, were in their high-back Maxi Cosi Rodi seats. The seatbelts tightened as they should do, and the kids didnt move an inch (and are very grateful for their seats!). Given that my older son will soon not legally require a seat at all (although he will continue to use one for another couple of years), should I replace my seats now that they have been in an accident? Is it likely that the plastic has been compromised? And if it is but I dont replace, what will happen if we are unlucky enough to be in another accident? The insurance company didnt mention it, and I am not sure if they will cover the cost as the accident was my fault.

I wouldn't risk it. You can get them for £60 each or, if you can't afford them, the Graco Junior Maxi can be bought for less than £30 each.

I've had a new seat paid for after an accident, by the other driver though. I don't see why your company wouldn't pay, they will repair anything else damaged in the car - definitely worth asking. The accident certainly sounds serious enough to have damaged the seats, imo. Hope you're not too shaken, op.

Thanks all, and of course you are right! I just haven't been thinking properly this week, and since the insurance company didnt mention it when I started the claim, it didnt really occur to me til a friend asked about it yesterday. The RoSPA site is brilliant and I quoted them to my insurance company this morning and they agreed immediately, just said go and buy them and send in the receipt, no problem. And I just realised that my older son has another 6kg to go before he is too heavy for the MaxiCosi so maybe they will be using them til they're 18!
