Maxi Cosi easybase - buckle crunch I think.

We have an easybase in the back on our fiesta. I was told by Halfords to get this set up as we don't have isofix and the seatbelts are really short.

Anyway, I've realised that when we pull the seatbelt tight enough to stop the base moving the buckle either comes through the gap where the seatbelt passes, so into the base, or it pulls up against the plastic really tightly.

From what I've been reading this is buckle crunch and is really dangerous.

I don't really want to change my carseat etc, DS is 5.5 months and still had loads of room in it. Plus Halfords told me it was the only thing that would work in our car.

Is there anything else we can try? If we deactivate the airbag would it be safe to put him in the front for example (assuming there's no buckle crunch?

Has anyone else had this problem with the easybase?

take it to a different shop and get them to have a look at it or contact your council and see if they have a car seat fitting team

Do you have an independent car seat retailer near you where you can ask for some advice? I have never found Halfords very good TBH. Very good at the sales spiel but rubbish if you ask an questions they weren't expecting. Once, the lad in there gave me totally wrong info on buckle crunch so I spent ten minutes explaining what it actually was to him Grin

Thanks movingsoon, I've found a number on the council website to call for a free car seat check.

Sadly there's only halfords or mothercare nearby that do carseats.

I'm really hoping we can make it safe!

Thanks very much!
