too big for group 0, too small for group 1...

DS is 7 and a half months old and a bit of a chubba, his head is level with the top of his Group 0 car seat so I need to buy a new one. However, he is not too good at sitting yet (coz he's rather large I think..) so he can't have a Group 1 seat. I know they sell combi ones that face rearwards then forwards when they can sit, and I'm all for these, especially as I have a friend who makes me watch car seat crash videos and loves the rear facing seats so much her 2 year old uses one.

Problem is, there are so many of them, and since I'll most likely be buying online I cant check the padding etc, and I really don't know which one to buy. Kiddicare has a Babyweavers Shuffle on sale for £45 at the moment, but I'm sceptical of 'cheap' seats, as they seem to be cheap for a reason. I was also looking at Nanias, but have heard terrible things... help?

awesome, i went to look at one today and it seems pretty good, and nice and big! might be a bit too roomy with the newborn insert taken out though. looked at the maxi cosi opal too, but that looks waaaay to small for a four year old, dont know how they think anyone over two will fit in that..

ARe you sure he is too big. the weight is teh most inportant factor in the baby seat and they are fine to 18 months. Head nbeeds to be properly over the top to be too small. My Ds was in his till 18 mo!

I have a britax first class and have fitted in some quite small cars. I have a suzuki wagon R and I have also had it in my days honda Jazz. It only needs lots of seatbelt for rear facing. As a back up you could fit if front facing as it reclines well. It is quite heavy but that makes it feel very sturdy.
