Need a cover for a britax eclipse

Our Britax eclipse car seat cover is ripped at the bottom from little legs kicking on it.

I just looked on ebay for new covers and they are £36 - 45. That seems outrageous, especially considering I only paid £90 for the seat in the first place.

Anybody know of any cheaper?

Can't you still buy them from Britax then?

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 04/02/2011 22:37

Surely you could pick up a second hand car seat for less than that and just use the cover?

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 04/02/2011 22:38

maybe try freecycle?

ohnoherewego · 04/02/2011 22:51

Where are you? I have an eclipse to sell in the Midlands

Eglu · 05/02/2011 12:42

WMMC I haven't tried Britax yet. But if they are that expensive on ebay I don't fancy my chances.

Doris there are cheaper seats on ebay.

ohnowherewego I'm in Scotland so a bit far away thanks.

i paid £69 for my britax eclipse new,and seen the prices on ebay for the covers, and most o them are pretty old ones,
seemingly britax have super customer service and their prices are meant to be quite reasonable for spares.
worth emailing them x

I have just stopped using mine due to frayed harness. They wanted £40 to reharness it so I have bought another car seat.

It can't be used for saftey reasons but the cover might be OK.

It is quite an old one though, bought in 2002 from new.

Whereabouts are you?

Eglu · 05/02/2011 16:43

THanks sazm. I'm in the Scottish Borders cece. Mine was bought in 2003 so should be the same as yours.

cece- our harness is starting to fray too ,ours is only 18mo,i need to get my lo a new seat so i can send the britax back to be repaired - luckily its still under warranty!

TBH if it was bought in 2002 its probably past its 'use by' date anyway, (carseats should only be used for 5-6yrs)

eglu - if yours was bought in 2003 - i wouldnt bother with a new cover,i would go for a new seat x

I have started using a Kiddy Infinity Pro that I bought on Monday.

I didn't know they had an expiry date. A bit gutted as I was hoping the Britax one would last till DS2 grew out of it. He is my last one and it seems a bit of a shame to have to splash out on a new one just for a couple of years, when the other one did for the other two children! Oh well, at least he'll be safe I suppose! Smile

sazm I had heard of that. I may get my DBs Maxi cosi when DN moves out of it soon.

our eclipse was only £69 from kiddicare, and they had the prince for £59 which was pretty good.
cece- how old is your lo?i quite fancy the kiddy infinity one??

cece · 06/02/2011 20:31

He is 20 months. Seems to like it, no complaints so far from him...

sazm · 06/02/2011 21:00

cool thanks cece, i cant decide between the recaro young sport, the kiddy infinity and the cybex !

cece · 06/02/2011 21:48

I have no idea what the others are but I am happy so far with the infinity. It had good safety reviews I think.

Got it from babys mart. It was delovered very quickly. Cheapest price and also got cash back from Topcashback too. Smile
