Jane Matrix in seated position for newborn?

Hi

We used the Jane Matrix carseat for DS1, initially in the lie flat position and then seated as he got older.

I am now expecting DC2 at Christmas and don't think I'll be able to fit the Matrix in our car in the lie-flat position because it used to take up the whole back seat and now DS1's seat is now taking up one seat.

Has anyone used the Matrix in the seated position from newborn? If I remember correctly it was quite a steep angle and I'm worried that this might not be suitable? Has anyone tried it? Does it need a special insert?

Aware I'm picking up a very old post here but thought it was worth a shot - did you manage to find out about using the matrix car seat in the upright position with a newborn?

We are about 5 months with our first and I'm looking at travel systems - the matrix light 2 seems to fit our needs really well, but worried about not always being able to use the lie-flat position if there is no middle 3 pt seat belt- we take taxis rather than having our own car.

If you have any insights on the above it would be greatly appreciated!

Can't help with info on that seat specifically, but if you can get to a shop to try it out, take a spirit level (or app on phone) and you can check, if the angle is steeper than 45 degrees, it's too steep for a newborn.

Alternatively try downloading the manual from the website and see what it has to say about the seated position.

Thanks BertieBotts, the seat reclines at 138 (so a 42 incline) when seated. So on paper, I think it should be fine. Sometimes the reality looks different though, so still hoping OP might be able to come back to this with some enlightenment! Thanks again.
