Primo Viaggio surefix base

Hi there, I wonder whether somebody can help. I bought a 2nd hand Mamas and Papas mpx travel system (chassis, carrycot, pushchair) and still need to buy the car seat. I read in the manual that a primo viaggio car seat fits to the travel system. Can this car seat only be put in the car on the base? I notice that most people sell the primo viaggio with the base. So I figure I def. need the base, correct? Does the base go in any car or are there special requirements it has to fulfill?

I would be so grateful if somebody could advise me on this, since I want to buy the car seat 2nd hand too, but if I can't try it out I can't be sure it'll work / fit.

Thanks you so much!

Don't buy a car seat second hand as you can't be sure of it history. It is best to go to a shop and check that a seats fits in your car a a seat that doesn't fit in the car won't work in an accident. Your council may also provide a car seat fitting service.

Second that. Don't buy second hand unless it from someone you know and trust. I had an M and P primo viaggo seat with DS, it does need a base. However, I'm expecting DS2 next week and have bought anew car seat; I always found his head really lolled forward when he fell asleep in the M and P. Nothing seemed to recitfy it and I was never entirely sure that he was comfortable or safe.
