Group 1, or group 1-3?

Hi

I might be being really stupid but are there advantages of buying a group 1 seat if you can get a group 1-3 (e.g. Britax evolva)? The cost difference doesn't seem to be much, and I just can't work out which to buy for my DS! Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Evolva , for one, has only a very slight recline which you have to fix when you install it. Most Group 1's can be reclined in situ and are designed specifically with a younger child in mind.

have you thought about getting a group 1 rear facing seat? www.rearfacing.co.uk they are much safer than the ff seats and as lizs says most group 1's recline while the group123 are normally fixed postion.

I have a recaro young sport for DS1 who is still light enough to use the inbuilt straps (as opposed to the seatbelt) but at 3 and a half can cope with nodding off with his head falling to the side ie not terribly comfy but it rests on the headrest.
It reclines slightly but not so you'd notice, and I wouldnt have been happy letting him sleep like this when he was a baby, especially not at 9 months which is from when you can use it.
He had a britax first class until I got this one which he's too tall for now, but which had a fantastic recline and he looked way more comfy. Thats why I wouldnt buy a 1-3 (or rather, why I wouldnt use it for group 1) His baby brother is now in the britax at 8 months.

Thanks so much everyone! I'll be buying a group 1 car seat then, and looking into a rear facing one too.

Hi I have got the Graco nautilus which is group 1 2 3. It to has a recline feature for when they are younger. Its a really comfy chair and will last Erin until she is 12.
Therefore I find a mulitstage car seat fine and safe.
