Best car seat for reflux

My DD has silent reflux. As with many others My M & P Primo Viaggio car seat seems to make her much worse. I have decided to buy her a new one. The two that seem obvious are the Britax and Maxi Cosy. Does any one have any experience of either or another which has helped their child? She is 11 wks now, and weighs nearly 5kgs. My car is A 3 yr old VW Passat. Any thoughts would be very much appreciated!!!

Hi bell. I cant remember the model but we went for the britax which goes up to four years old - it's not a stage 0 one though so it has to stay in the car all the time.

We also got a dummy for DS (also has silent reflux) for him to use on car journeys as the sucking action would help soothe any acid coming up.

What medication is your DD on? Ranitidine is very good as stops acid production - was great for DS!

The britax one is from newborn - I forgot to add!!

Hi iggly, shes on Nutramigen milk, with Carobel to thicken, domperidone & ranitidine, we are just woking out if omperazole might make things better or not! thanks for the advice, especially re the dummy.

how about one of the rf seats that last to 4 years? we have a KISS which is suitable from birth and is upright but also reclines so you can decide how much recline you want. the besafe seat is also from birth but recommended from 6 months and was very upright when i tried it in my car, a golf. the britax two way elite can be put at any recline you want from baby carrier recline to fully upright.

No worries!

I'd second nicm's vote on the KISS - I think it will give you great options on the amount of tilt you give her, and it'll last until she's four - and it's one of only three seats in the world (the besafe being the other 2) to have passed the most stringent swedish Plus Test :) So would offer you great value for money :)

DS was (and still is in) a Britax First Class Si seat. He was sick a lot (25 times a day was a good day), this seat didn't stop the sick but it did keep him more upright.

One thing we did was loosen his nappy when he went in the carseat. If the nappy was done up normally, it would press more into his stomach making him sicker. We just made the tabs loose so they didn't cut in as much.
