Isofix bases, are they worth it?

Hi,

We went pram shopping yesterday and also looked at the car seats. We like the maxi-cosi pebble.

We are now wondering if it is worth going with the ISOFIX base or if it is an unnecessary expense? Although we can see that it is easier to slot the car seat in and out is it really worth the extra ££? Also when the baby grows out of the pebble will the base become null and void too or can the next car seat fit onto it? Obviously we would then have to stick to maxi-cosi for the next car seat though!

Thanks in advance!

Is null and void after the pebble, but holds its price well on Ebay. I felt it was a definite worthwhile expense, even though money wasn't readily available. I used one for my third baby, as there was so much too-ing and fro-ing with the other two, including 3 school runs a day, poor DS2 seemed to live in his car seat.

I know it doesn't takelong to seatbelt in, but if you can afford it, it really does make life easier.

If you get a cabriofix instead of a pebble, they areplenty of easybases on Ebay.

IMO yes isofix is worth it, one clunk and DS is in! My SIL has one of those seats that uses the seatbelt, 3 minutes of fiddling with a car seat and seatbelt whilst baby is going nuts (because they both hate their car seats) not fun!

I would say it's worth it. I've got twins, and it was so much easier to slot them into the bases than struggle with fitting two seats in the back of the car with seatbelts, particularly if it was raining, or if we had parked somewhere without much room.

We used ours for about a year (DTDs were quite small so stayed in car seats from birth - pretty much 1yo) and then sold them at our todder group nearly new sale pretty easily.
