Hi wondered if anyone can help. We have a Britax 2way elite for my DH's car which we love, our DD is so comfortable in it and we have a peace of mind that she's in rf for safety reasons.

I have 3 door car which I hardly use and have tried our 2way in it and it fits fine but I find it impoosible to get DD in and then put passenger seat back. We live on a busy road so can't ordinarily park car in opposite direction without A LOT of hassle and it's out of the question to put DD in via drivers side as it's too busy.

It's not out of the question to buy another (different) car seat, cheaper than a new car, can anyone advise of a more suitable rf seat for a 3 door car or an easier way to get her in??

TIA

I put my DS in the front if there's just the two of us in the car. I don't have ISOFIX and find reaching into the back far to fiddly.

I don't have a passenger-side airbag so not an issue for me. If you do have an airbag you may be able to disable it (some cars have a key for this apparantly). I think if there's no airbag / it's turned off, there are no issues about putting the car seat in the front (assuming it fits ok).

Actually is it possible with the 2way? Doesn't it need tethered, usually to seat in front?....

yes the tethers tie to the back of the front seat and then go underneath it and up to the front

i think. if that makes sense?

The tethers fix to the bar under the front seat, so no, unfortunately I don't think you could use it in the front seat. You might be able to use one of the ones witgh "legs" instead of tethers though.

you really can, it says so in my user manual

mcflumpy · 25/07/2010 22:31

I'll check out the manual tomorrow thanks everyone

oh sorry if I gave the wrong info - will also look at my manual

mcflumpy - worth remembering the info someone told me about front airbags - switching off is fine, but remember if you're turning it back on and off again over and over, it takes a couple of days to recharge itself back up to full working order - not sure how truthful this is- I'm not a mechanic, but might be worth bearing in mind if swapping regularly

you can use the twe in the front seat as long as you have switched the airbag off. i had ds in the front in my old car.
