Smallest car seat for a 3 year old?

Due to changing cars/size restrictions we are looking to find the smallest car seat for ourr 3 1/2 year old.

He currently has a maxi tobi which appears to be huge.

Any suggestions?

Not really, but bookmarking as I've asked the same. I do know that an American make of carseat, the sunshine radian, is supposed to be particularly narrow as it doesn't have arms or something, but I don't think they're sold in the UK.

Britax Kidfix is a very narrow seat. For children over 15kg.

We have one (plus a much wider seat for ds2) in our tiny Fiat.

we have the britax 2 way elite which can be used rear-facing up to 25kg. it's a doddle to fit and doesn't take up much space (it's one of 3 across the back of our car)

you can also use it forward facing up to 25kg too

we have a maxi cosi tobi. Am i right in thinking that as soon as ds reaches 18kg we have to get rid of it? Wont be long then.

I don't have scales at home - what age (ish) 18kgs? My DD1 is 3 1/4 and quite slim, my other DD is 22 months and round as a big bouncing ball...

Can you buy a Big Girl Car Seat earlier than 18kg? I don't imagine my DD1 will be that heavy come January (unless I try and fattten her up like a Christmas turkey!) when we'd ideally need her to move in to a smaller seat...

I wouldn't do this, but apparently it's also legal for a 3yr old to have no childseat if there are two other childseats either side and no room for her carseat!

Will probably wait until we get new car, take car and child to Halfords and get them to fit new seat.

Tbh space isnt really an issue, just new car is only 4 seater, and ds's current seat is huge - having said that we only have 1 ds so not a major issue, but I'm glad I posted as I hadnt realised that he is probably going to outgrow his seat in the next couple of months.

Yep #3 due January. We have a Prius and don't want to change it if possible - DD1 will be 3 3/4 and DD2 will be 2 1/4 so desperately looking around for a solution that allows us not to abandon our smug ecological car for a gas guzzler.
