My 21 year old daughter found a lump on the outer edge of her breast and had her clinic appointment yesterday. While performing the ultrasound- the Consultant said that the lump was actually a lymph node and that about 4 or 5 lymph nodes were up in a string from her axilla. She said that if it had been one or two she would not have been concerned. However, because it was a string of them and given my daughter’s history ( she had leukaemia as a 2 year old) she would biopsy three of them. She said that it could well be nothing but other than that said nothing more. My daughter had no questions and I didn’t want to ask anything that would scare her more! Results in 10 days. Afterwards my daughter mentioned to me that she had an itchy painful rash on the same side of her trunk- which looked to me a bit like shingles. She spoke to a GP on the phone, who said by description it might well be shingles and prescribed antivirals. I also know that itching is a sign of lymphoma but this is confined to one side of her trunk with some bumps coming up and two scabbed and look resolving. Going mad with anxiety. Wishing I had asked more questions but still don’t know what I could have asked that wouldn’t have terrified my daughter. Any stories, advice or hand holding welcome.
