I have been diagnosed with grade 1 Non specific type breast cancer today with dcis in situ. Lymph nodes clear from ultrasound.

I am massively worried. has anyone had any experience of this?

Oh bless you is that anything to do with the diagnosis or something separate?
Im glad the cbt is helping my gp offered me that but I was too scared to take it a few months ago. 2 seasons that’s amazing!

The not knowing is horrible, but maybe distract yourself by researching your birthday plans. Then you can book it once you’ve got your full treatment plan.

nope, other health stuff that’s chronic and I have to manage carefully. That going off piste triggers me more than the c! But thank you.

I’ve had cbt before - it’s like a work out for your brain (and you can feel very tired afterwards at first) but I think then, like with muscles, it also has muscle memory. The concepts have come back quite swiftly this time, with some new ideas that are really helping me.

@MinnieMountaini don’t want to be disappointed if the plans don’t go how im expecting. I said to my partner this morning about Disney and he said whatever wouldn’t we be going? It’s a year away!

That’s really good knowing that, maybe that is something that will help me?

@ohdoriswheresthesalad I got my diagnosis at the end of August 2024, and got my 'no evidence of disease' in February of this year.

LoudSnoringDog · 07/12/2025 15:32

Op was on Thursday PM. I had anticipated being sent home on Thursday evening but I was so ill from the GA that I stayed in overnight to have IV anti emetic. Came home Friday pm. I’m in some discomfort but nothing that isn’t being managed with pain relief. Been out for a walk etc. they removed the lump and one lymph node so now just waiting for my next appt

ohdoriswheresthesalad · 07/12/2025 15:45

@BatshitCrazyWoman6 months then! Congratulations that’s amazing news.

@LoudSnoringDogoh bless your heart that sounds rough for you. What will the next appointment be then the pathology of the lump? What pain relief are you given on discharge?

Yes post pathology to determine how much radiotherapy is needed.
I was sent home with paracetamol, codeine and lactulose.

I have found the front fastening ones easier because of the site where the Sentinal Node / lymph node removal was. It’s hurting a bit to “lift “ my arm so I’ve personally found front fastening a bit easier

ohdoriswheresthesalad · 07/12/2025 18:19

Ahh ok I’ll take that on board thank you.
Have you had the dressing changed or what’s the process for that? Showering or anything, did you have stitches that were disolvable?
Is the pain killers helping you bless you?
I hope you’re ok x

I had the dressing changed just before I left the hospital on Friday lunchtime and was given clean dressings to put on after 4 days ( I’ll change them Tuesday ) no specific instructions for the dressings but im a nurse so said I was confident to sort myself out. Need to keep area as dry as possible until about Tuesday. They are dissolvable stitches. I have one incision under my boob which is where the lump was and an incision by my armpit.
I’ve been fine other than sore

ohdoriswheresthesalad · 07/12/2025 18:48

Ah ok I work in the community with the elderly, not a nurse as such but deal with this sort of thing. but I think I could confidently change my dressing if not I’m sure one of my work mates would help me. My lump is to the side of my boob left hand side.

OP posts:

Hope your scan all goes ok @ohdoriswheresthesalad. what time is it planned for?

Ikeameatballlunch · 08/12/2025 07:52

Good luck for today!

you may get to choose some music to listen to - the menu can be hilarious as quite frankly the machine is like listening to the prodigy anyway. Can attest that Kylie was “interesting.”

ohdoriswheresthesalad · 08/12/2025 08:04

3.40 so ages to wait.
im terrified today again. I had an awful dream of going the 18th for the plan and her telling me it’s all over my whole body, my lungs (I have asthma so that’s a fear as well that it’s spread and it’s not really asthma) brain everywhere. Tells me to go home and die.
woke up in a pool of sweat 😥
