DM barely eating and drinking while having chemo

DM is currently having chemotherapy and is finding it impossible to drink more than about a small cup of liquid each day and will only eat a few small bites of food.

Doctors just keep telling her that she needs to drink more but I don't think they realise how difficult she's finding it.

It almost seems like it might be a mental block rather than a physical thing.

My siblings and I are beside ourselves. Nothing we try is working and it's like we're just watching her waste away in front of us.

Posting on here in desperation in case anyone has any suggestions.

Oops… I should have read the full thread. Perhaps you could find other ways to make the nutrition shakes more palatable instead of adding ice cream? Whizz them up with fruit and cream/milk, perhaps?

Hope she's ok. If she feels up to it some of the high protein yoghurts/mousses can be easier to take than supplement drinks, even if it's just a few mouthfuls. Also angel delight made with full fat milk (and a nutritional supplement if possible). Also if she is able to take ice lollies yet, frozen juice supplements (e.g fortijuce) in moulds or jelly would be an other idea xx

I hope they can find a solution. Sometimes there are different chemos available and these can have different effects and sometimes a person can tolerate one but not another though the oncology team will be considering that anyway I guess.
