There are significant delays in the trust I’ve been referred to for 2 ww breast clinic. It is now 3 weeks since initial GP appointment and I still don’t have an appointment through. I have a non-painful firm mass that seems to be getting bigger and ?lumpier. Also, I have now noticed very obvious skin retraction when I raise my arms or push shoulders forward. This extra symptom is pushing up the anxiety a bit. I’m 40. I can’t afford private.

I’m really sorry you’re having this delay, how stressful for you. Call the GP Practice Manager and update them about the additional skin symptoms and ask what’s going on with the appointment. You shouldn’t have to, but you must advocate for yourself. Call daily.

Sorry to hear this. Ring and ask for a cancellation. Most lumps aren’t cancer but you are right to be concerned.
I have breast cancer and found it necessary to advocate for myself quite a bit.
Best wishes 🌺

@CactusForever I would disagree with that advice. You need to phone the hospital, they will have had the referral. It's them you need to chase. I do hope you're ok, OP!

Don’t call the GP surgery, they’ve done their bit by appropriately referring you on the 2ww pathway. Phone the hospital.

I'm a GP. I agree with previous posters - there is no point calling the GP surgery. All we can do is put in an urgent referral (which has already been done). Thereafter we have no control over, nor any access to even view the hospital appointments system. Speak to the hospital appointments line to chase the appointment up. Only they can do anything about it.

All the best to you OP.

Thank you so much for all the advice. I could probably stretch to a private USS or mammogram but I’m not sure if it’s worth while as I couldn’t afford further testing privately if required. I’ll chase with the NHS hospital as a first line. Thank you.

I was thinking the OP probably doesn’t have the info for the hospital clinic to be able to call, though? And she definitely needs to check the referral hasn’t gone missing (as has happened a couple of times with me and my kids).
